I attended the Clinton Campaign event today in which Chelsea Clinton came to the 2040 Lofts to speak in a town hall model gathering on behalf of her mother. It was in an intimate setting, just in the common room at 2040s and was well attended with people even standing up in the back. Also, it was awesome. I was really pumped to go to this event. I had seen Bill speak and would now be seeing Chelsea–the only other important one left then is Hillary. (I’ll cross my fingers for this Saturday, though!). But I digress…Chelsea was a great speaker. But this wasn’t initially apparent. She spoke softly and was not instantly commanding, however she spoke with such knowledge and substance that in turn, truly did command her audience’s full attention. Issues that were highlighted included health care, human rights and the war. Chelsea spoke to the issues, didn’t dance around questions and answered in detail and in a clear and concise manner, which I certainly appreciated. I’d say more, but generally, even though I fancy myself as someone pretty engaged with politics and the election, I definitely learned even more at this event, sooooo thanks Chelsea! I even got to talk to her at the end and take a pic with her! (I’m so helplessly star-struck–in a very nerdy kind of way). Overall, two thumbs up and a big ups to everyone who attended (especially those who skipped class like myself!)–way to represent Marquette! Finally, here’s my subtle go vote plug: EVERYONE GO VOTE THIS TUESDAY!! Thanks.
