Blog Update!

Since some of you guys were wondering which one of us was writing which posts, my blogging partner and I have decided to create separate IDs for ourselves. From now on, we will be appearing as our individual log-ins when we do individual posts/comments, and as “thewordwarrior” if we are doing a joint post. This will enable you guys to hate one of us without hating the other one, were we to write something controversial :)Hi, I’m femmemeister! You’ll be seeing me around!

  2. RE: Annie’s post.
When I first saw this on Feministing, my reaction was: “Ohhhhhhh.My.God. ”
This should have been an exhibit at our “Rape Culture” event. It is yet another example of the apathy surrounding rape. I can see the designers sitting around crafting this design “Hey, remember that one time I got tipsy at that house party and that guy took me home and raped me?! Hahhaah. OMG.Rape is so funny. I think we should make a joke about it. And then put it on a t-shirt for the world to see!!” Or, “Dude, do you remember when that chick was drunk and told me that she didn’t want to have sex, but I made her anyway?! Haahahaha! Fuckin’ sweet! Let’s make a t-shirt for that girl!!”

a.) I want to know who is responsible for designing something like this and why he/she/they thought it was a good idea.

b.) David and Goliath should be shut down. Indefinitely. (personal preference)

c.) WHO BUS SOMETHING LIKE THIS?! Oh my.

I love how freaking happy this girl looks to be wearing this, too. Let’s put it on a guy. Would it be funny? No. It would be dumb. Just like this is dumb…and infuriating, nauseating, sickening.

The worst part? This shirt is not alone.
I’ve included links to shirts for sale on cafepress.com that are equally as infuriating.

And there used to be one (which I can’t find anymore) that says, “My son date raped your honor student.” Wonderful, no?

Okay, I’m too frustrated to keep writing.

  3. Yuck. All those T-shirts are absurdly disgusting. I am slightly comforted by the fact that, when I clicked on Annie’s link, the message said “product no longer available.”

This means that, as awful as these T-shirt companies are, they are listening to our outrage. Hopefully, they will remember this the next time they put out a T-shirt.

Would it be too much to hope that they are becoming more sensitive? I would like to think so, even if their motive for removing the offensive T-shirt was probably economic . . .
