Marquette’s own poor cartoon choices

Damnit Marquette Tribune, you see what you make me do? You make me defend Republicans. After you publish a surprisingly racist anti-racist cartoon:

Look, the GOP as an institution has some unresolved race issues. (So do the Democrats, but in mostly different ways.) McCain probably got some votes he wouldn’t have otherwise had if he were running against a white candidate. But the really problematic factions of the party–those which would call a black person “uppity”–are a minority. The problem of these genuinely racist factions won’t be solved by accusing the whole party of bigotry. It will only deter moderates from examining the problems of the people they have steped inside the tent with.
