Remember the anti-Semitic Holocaust denier Bishop Williamson?

I sure do.  He’s back in the news. This week, he was fined 100,000 Euros for running afoul Swedish anti-Holocaust denial laws in a 2008 interview. As much as I’d like to see a misogynistic, homophobic truther and avowed enemy of modernity squirm in his cassock, he shouldn’t be punished by the law for having opinions and discussing them.

This is not a victory for decency and reason, but a defeat for free speech, an ideal dealt not a few hard knocks this week.
